You usually don't need to file an amended return if you discover math or clerical errors on a recently filed tax return. You realize you claimed an expense, deduction or credit that you weren't eligible to claim. You forgot to claim taxable income on your tax return. You accidentally claimed the wrong tax filing status. You realized you missed out on claiming a tax deduction or credit. Here are some common situations that call for an amendment: There are times when you should amend your return and times when you shouldn't. Here's what you need to know about filing an amended tax return. That's why the IRS allows taxpayers to correct their tax returns if they discover an error on a return that's already been filed. You typically must file an amended return within three years from the original filing deadline, or within two years of paying the tax due for that year, if that date is later.Use it to report important changes, such as correcting your filing status, adding or removing a dependent, claiming tax deductions or credits you missed, or adding taxable income you forgot about. Do not use Form 1040-X to report clerical errors, which the IRS will correct. If you filed a tax return with missing or incorrect information, you can amend your tax return using Form 1040-X. There’s a few things that I thought were essential when hiking to the waterfalls in Costa Rica: I found them cute and funny because I usually saw them as I was taking a break heaving with my hands on my knees. If you need a little motivation, there are sloth signs along the way that tell you just how many steps you have left to go with an encouraging little phrase. The way down to the waterfall takes about 15 minutes but the hike back up takes around 30 minutes, depending on how many stops you take. The hike to the La Fortuna Waterfall is self-guided and consists of 500 steps. There’s also a small orchid trail, butterfly trail and plant nursery near the entrance that you can walk through as well. If you need to change, do so before you start as there aren’t any facilities once you start on the trail down. There is a restaurant, souvenir shop, restrooms, showers and lockers at the top. Once you get past the entrance, there are a few facilities available before hiking down to the waterfall. We went around noon and it was moderately busy near the waterfall but pretty empty on the trail. The waterfall is open from 7:00am to 5:00pm. Either their site hasn’t been updated to reflect current prices or they’ve been changed recently. I’ve seen most sites say that a children’s ticket costs $5, but on their site it says that children under 8 are free. You can buy tickets there using cash or card or online ahead of time. The entrance fee to the La Fortuna Waterfall is $18 for adults. (Sometimes you get surprised with a double fee, but that’s not the case here.) There’s no attendant but there are a lot of people coming and going and it’s right in front of the entrance to buy tickets. Parking: There’s a large parking lot in front of the entrance and no additional fee to park there. My husband knew someone staying in La Fortuna and they were planning on walking before we offered to give them a lift. It is possible to walk to the waterfall if you don’t mind spending the time. It’s a quick drive on paved roads if you have a rental car or you can catch an Uber to it if you don’t have a car. The waterfall is located about 3.1 miles (5 km) outside the town of Fortuna. It’s a bit of a drive so we stopped along the way and saw the La Paz Waterfall Gardens, the Poas Volcano and Rio Agrio. The town of La Fortuna is located to the northwest of San Jose and it takes about 2 hours 45 minutes to get there. It’s a popular attraction in Costa Rica–it’s located in a well-visited tourist town, it’s not far to get to and the hike is pretty mild. On a clear day, the water will be a dark greenish turquoise and the basin is covered in bright green moss. We also recommend wearing comfortable footwear and clothing. The waterfall is located within a biological reserve and is 70 meters high. On this tour we'll be going on several hikes, so it is necessary to be in good physical condition. We'll return to the hotels in Arenal at around 7 pm. Can you think of a better way to end the trip? We'll head back down to the trail for the most relaxing part of this tour with a dip in the Arenal hot springs. You can bathe in its warm waters and have a snack and a drink. After crossing the lake, we'll arrive at one of the most exciting places on the tour. from the highest point of the Arenal Volcano, you'll be able to take some impressive photographs of the volcano and its natural environment. To recharge our batteries we'll enjoy a meal in a local restaurant, located about 10 minutes away from the village.Īfter lunch we'll set off on another hike to the Arenal Volcano, passing through a forest of trees with enormous roots, full of fascinating species of birds, monkeys, sloths and coatis. When we leave the waterfall and we'll go on a 20-minute walk to the small village of the Maluku indigenous community, where you'll learn about their customs, culture and language, as well as have the opportunity to visit one of their Palenkes (main house). You'll even get the chance to take a dip! The climb will be worth it! This spectacular waterfall is over 70 metres high and at its feet is a huge pool of crystal clear water. Our hike will continue as we go up around 500 steps to reach the La Fortuna Waterfall. On the hike's first stretch, we'll follow the course of the La Fortuna River and finally board a vehicle that will take us to the top of a viewpoint so we can marvel at the wonders of the Costa Rican landscape. This waterfall is only accessible by foot, so we'll go on an approximately eight-kilometre hike in total through the Arenal Volcano National Park, a biological reserve of a tropical rainforest. We'll pick you up from your hotel in Arenal at the arranged time and set off in a comfortable vehicle to the La Fortuna Waterfall. You don’t want your pasta to be crunchy or mushy. The doneness of your pasta is probably the most difficult aspect to manage when cooking in the oven. The liquid will evaporate off and also soak into the pasta, leaving behind a hot but not-soggy pasta! Tips for Cooking Plain Pasta in the Oven If you don’t want to drain it but find that your pasta is still too wet, let it rest uncovered for about 15 minutes. Leave it in the oven if you want it cooking for a bit longer, or drain the liquid if the pasta is done to your liking. Even though it can take a long time, it leaves you free to do other things while the pasta cooks. This is because the oven needs to reach cooking temperatures first before it can properly cook off your pasta. If you are starting your oven from cold or using a cold liquid, then cooking can take much longer – even up to an hour. This suggestion only works if you are using a preheated oven and hot liquid though. Unless you are cooking off other ingredients (like cheese, meat, or vegetables), cook your pasta for the time that is stated on the packet plus 10 minutes. But if you are making bakes that need more cooking or browning (like cheese on a pasta bake), then you’ll need to increase the temperature to make sure everything cooks off. You don’t need high temperatures to cook pasta. You can then finish the cooking process in the oven. Soaking pasta in hot water first is an excellent way to soften and hydrate your pasta. You can speed up cooking times even more by using a kettle. This is especially important if you are starting with a cold liquid. To speed up cooking times, preheat your oven to 100☌ or 212☏ so that your dish can stay hot but not so hot that your liquid evaporates too quickly. The cooler your oven is, the longer it will take for your pasta to cook. To cook pasta, you will need to maintain at least 80☌ or 176☏ in your oven. For example, when using (cold) pasta sauce from a jar, you should add a jar of water to the dish for every jar of sauce used. You may need to add more liquid if it is cold. This is so that your pasta stays wet during the cooking process and doesn’t come out crispy. You should add enough hot liquid to submerge your pasta fully. If you don’t want to drain off too much of the excess liquid or you want to make a saucier bake, then it is more important to get the amount of liquid right. This is a great way of getting plain pasta, which you can incorporate into dishes that are not pasta bakes, like a salad. If you don’t have one, carefully ladle out your pasta using a slotted spoon. You can do this by using oven mitts to help tip the pasta into a colander. Add liquid in the amount that is suggested by the packet instructions. You can afford to be less exact if you plan on draining the excess liquid. Managing the amount of liquid that you add is important for oven cooking. Although you will probably get better and quicker results by using hot liquid. For a more creamy (and creative) dish, you can even use milk! Whatever you choose, you can use it cold or hot. Jars of pasta sauce also work but they will turn your pasta into a pasta bake. You can use dilute chicken or vegetable stock for cooking, which will add a nice savory flavor to your pasta. While most people find water to be the simplest liquid to use, you can use any liquid that you like to cook your pasta. Spaghetti, macaroni, and penne are just a few examples of pasta you can bake. Photo by Karolina Grabowska from Pexels What Pasta Can You Use?Īlthough lasagne is well-known to be an oven-baked dish, there are no rules on what type of pasta you should use. I’m more surprised with some of the more mature tracks this time around never in my life would I have expected Eminem’s Without Me to be included. (Oh, and you got the Kulikitaka TikTok meme song here too, can’t forget that!) (Don’t worry, RCT 127 and Twice are in the song list too.) International artists are also represented, with everything from Spanish and even Ukrainian songs present. It seems that Ubisoft has finally perfected its “jack of all trades” megamix with the 40 on-cartridge songs: You’ve got top 40 hits like Dance Monkey and Rain on Me, classic songs like In the Navy (complete with campy YMCA performers), and even an abundance of K-Pop, with Blackpink and Selena Gomez’s Ice Cream headlining the whole shebang. I’ve appreciated recent base song lists of Just Dance games, and 2021 is no different. It’s simple gameplay that even small kids can pick up and actually, there’s a special mode just for them if they want to follow along with cute animals and family-friendly lyrics. Songs will have a range of one to four dancers, and since you can attach up to six Joy-Con, you can select whichever character to follow. By mimicking the movements of your dancer, you earn points that will grant you different rankings, up to five stars… well, plus Superstar and Megastar ranks. Using a Joy-Con or mobile phone, you follow the movements of your selected dancer as they shake, boogie, and glide on the dancefloor. If you haven’t played a Just Dance title, then you won’t be too lost the instructions are right in the title. While Just Dance 2021 feels more like a mission pack update than a distinct sequel, it holds its strong song list steady to be a worthy purchase for fans and partygoers alike. As Gaming Trend’s resident rhythm game fan (second only to editor-in-chief Ron himself), I jumped at the chance to review this year’s iteration. 11 years later and I can proudly say I continue to play both franchises as much as I can (even if my joints have been getting a little creakier), and I thought last year’s Just Dance 2020 was a great anniversary title. Growing up playing Dance Dance Revolution, I initially scoffed at the idea of Just Dance back in 2009. This way, there’s a continuous momentum and fun in the game. The Whiskers Feeder-Robot is available in four different color combinations, with the body available in black or white, in combination with a clear food hopper or a more opaque smoke-colored option. We would have preferred other Feeder-Robot components were dishwasher-safe as well, though its washable components are easy to separate from the feeder's base and hand wash. A dishwasher-safe, hypoallergenic glass bowl is sold separately, adding a $30 surcharge to an already substantial investment. We were also less than satisfied with the included plastic bowl, since it can't be cleaned in the dishwasher and because some cats have skin allergies (however, all components are BPA-free). Regardless, the device performed flawlessly throughout our testing. It was our impression that this was a shipping error rather than anything specific to the product or manufacturer. While the Feeder-Robot has a more high-quality feel than many of the other feeders tested-with beefy, trustworthy components that slotted together intuitively-it's worth noting that the clear plastic food reservoir on our test model arrived cracked. An easy-to-read blue indicator light highlights whether or not the unit is currently operating on a programmed schedule. Whether a schedule is established using the app or on the control panel keypad, the Feeder-Robot stores the schedule locally and will continue to maintain the schedule even if it's offline. Thankfully, the Feeder-Robot doesn't rely on the app. While we've yet to spend enough time with the Feeder-Robot to gauge the usefulness of the app's more in-depth features, they provide unrivaled insights for the cat-owning data nerd: tracking feedings over time, pulling out daily averages, and providing other insights that can be exported to a CSV file ready for Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel. In addition to notifying you with a push notification at feeding times, the app also allows you to check food levels, build schedules, and tap a button to remotely dispense a snack-size serving. This same peace of mind is enhanced by the included backup battery, which can continue to run a feeder program even if the power goes out for up to 24 hours. "The notifications provide peace of mind, so I can spend less time worrying about my cats while I'm away." "The app is great!" one tester said, noting their general disdain for having to download an app for every new connected product before describing the Feeder-Robot as an exception. It's designed to more effectively funnel food into the dispenser, but also reduces the total capacity to 25 cups-still a substantial amount of food. The Feeder-Robot's reservoir can hold up to 32 cups of dry food, though anything other than small, round kibble will likely need the included Hopper Insert. If your cat doesn't overeat and you don't closely monitor servings, this "gravity mode" ensures that the feeder isn't dispensing an overflowing mound of food while you're away. There's also a setting that dispenses just enough food to keep the bowl full, with the Feeder-Robot checking its level every 6 hours. A dispenser that uses 1/4-cup increments is already installed in the Feeder-Robot, but you can swap it for an included 1/8-cup dispenser that provides more precise portion control (though this reduces the maximum single serving to 1/2 cup). It's easy to dial in precise meal times and serving increments with the Feeder-Robot's robust settings, through which you can dispense up to a full cup of food as frequently as eight times a day. Set up out of the box was easy, taking us about 15 minutes, including downloading and syncing the phone application (by scanning a QR code on the back of the feeder), which is available on iOS and Android. This makes it feel a little top heavy, though not enough to be concerned about cats knocking it over-bashing it with a ten-pound sandbag didn't budge it, so neither will your cat. Despite it's bulky dimensions, the Feeder-Robot tapers to a 9 x 11.25 inch footprint. The design of the Feeder-Robot is simultaneously futuristic and friendly, though it's definitely on the larger side, so buyers should be ready for it to take up a fair amount of space. The feeder scored especially high marks for its features, effectiveness, timer accuracy, and portion control. Our testers appreciated that the Whisker Feeder-Robot had a variety of intuitive feeding options and the most useful app of any feeder tested. If you notice that you’re making silly mistakes such as missing CS or making basic errors, you’re probably starting to tilt. In Season 8, I recklessly lost 18 games in a row. While you may get the occasional win, it’s never a good idea to chase lost LP. Realistically, when you’re tilted or frustrated at the game, you will not be capable of playing at the level required to beat the enemy. Competent enemies can tell when you’re playing inconsistently, and a smart enemy will be able to abuse the fact that you’re tilted. When you’re tilted, the most simple League of Legends basics fly out of the window, with your sole focus on winning the game rather than improving.Ĭonsistency in League of Legends cannot be undervalued. We’ve all experienced the “just one more game” feeling, and this is no truer than your recent match history is full of losses. If you get assigned a role you aren’t very comfortable in, opt for a champion that is simpler to play and easier to execute so you can still be serviceable if you fall behind. In regards to roles, stick to two – your main and an off-role. It’s not worth learning on the fly, especially if the champ is mechanically demanding or different than what you’re used to. If you want to replace a champion with another, be sure to take the time and research once again before risking your LP. Play these champions and only these champions in ranked up until one of them stops working for you, IE they fall out of meta or you no longer enjoy them. After you’re comfortable, it’s time to take them into solo queue. Out of this list, learn the ins and outs of each champion by playing them consecutively. For example, a Diamond 1 Mid laner will outperform another Diamond 1 player if they’re on off role.Īll you need to do is pick 5 champions that you’re good at and enjoy playing. As you will not have the time to learn every role in its entirety, you will struggle to be as good as somebody who mains that role. Similar to learning the ins and outs of your main champions, it will be rather difficult for you to find consistent success in every role. For me, I will be sticking to Support and either Top or ADC, and will most likely not be playing Mid or Jungle. Personally, I would avoid some parts of the new system and only play the roles that you’re comfortable with. In Season 9, we will be seeing ranks per role. On a mechanically demanding champion like Yasuo, the more experience you have, the better. For example, it can be rather easy to abuse a rookie Yasuo compared to somebody who has over five hundred games on him. This can be exploited by the enemy- which can often cost you the game. In comparison, if you were to play every champion in ranked, you would not have the skill required to play them to their full potential. This is because you will be able to play to those champions strengths, and learn to play around their weaknesses. If you learn the ins and outs of said chosen champions, you will find yourself being able to climb more efficiently. My Three most popular champions held over half of my games played. In Season 8, I only played 22 different champions. All 5 topics we’re covering may not impact everyone depending on rank and skill level, however, we believe that by the end of the article, you’ll take away something that will make you a better player. In this Mobalytics guide by PicklePants, we will discuss 5 things that many players struggle with which can be easy to fix. Ranked play requires a lot of self-discipline, focus, and quite a bit of luck in order to win games and climb, so fixing any issues or doubts you may have before heading into ranked can put the odds in your favor to win the game. When you find something that you’re struggling to grasp, learning and trying to fix the issue will allow you to become a better player. Not everything comes naturally, and improvement is learned through hard work, dedication, and education. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, and we all lack something in one form or another. In League of Legends, there is no such thing as a perfect player.
